What to do?

We all have things we need to do to keep an even keel — blogging, exercising, reading, cooking. What’s yours?

I have a variety of go-to activities to keep me on an even keel.  Reading (a most favored activity particularly with the Kindle I got for Christmas), baking and watching television.

When I lived alone the tv kept me company.  I’d turn it on when I got up in the morning or home from work, and then go about my business around the house.  The sound of the news or a rerun of Star Trek The Next Generation, MASH or Mad About You, provided a feeling of security–there was someone nearby and I wasn’t alone.

Now, television is a way for my husband and I to decompress, escaping into first run or reruns of the Big Bang Theory, Mike and Molly or Elementary. Our newest favorite is Grace and Frankie on Netflix.  The brilliant writing and acting has us laughing hard enough to cry!  Lily Tomlin (75) and Jane Fonda (77) have me believing that aging is nothing really to be afraid of. The fact that we have to wait until 2016 for the second season is a drag!

Today’s thanks goes out to the reruns that kept me company on days now long gone, and the ones that keep me laughing today!
